Restoring worn surfaces
CHALLENGE
A 600 Kw windpower multiplier was suffering of significant wear on tooth flanks after only a short time in operation. Renk gears 1W 600 of windmill No.32 at Geest Windpark in Husum, Germany.
Operator expected a restoration of worn out gear teeth surfaces, reduction of grey staining, protection against further wear, and extension of life time

OUTCOME

After Rewitec Surface Treatment the worn areas were restored and the gears′ life expectancy increased substantially. Tooth imprints taken of the surfaces before and after show the smoother texture of the treated surface.
RESULTS
Geest Windpark avoided the change of gears, the associated costs of crane, disassembling gears, and other associated costs evaluated at $200,000 The windmill is operating since the REWITEC Surface Treatment without any mechanical problems.
