Rewitec Application in Wind Turbines
CHALLENGE
A TACKE TW 250 with 75 Liter Mobil XMP SHC 320 oil had gears showing significant wear, rough surfaces, micropitting and chipped parts of tooth flanks. The beveled edges and tooth head have sharp edges.
In October 2007, the gear set needed a restoration of worn surfaces, reduction of micropitting, and protection and life time extension of gears. A tooth was marked and an imprint ot the tooth flank was taken. Also the electrical resistance on the tooth surfaces was measured at 0 Ω.

OUTCOME
After 700 operation hours, an imprints are taken again from the marked tooth showing significant smoother pittings and roughness compared to the initial condition. The tooth flanks have smooth surfaces.
Values up to 50 Ω of resistance are measured on the flank surfaces confirming the formation of the REWITEC coating. The highest values of resistance are found on the lower part of the teeth. According to the plant operator after the REWITEC surface treatment, the noise decreased and vibrations disappeared.
